TENNESSEE REAL ESTATE CE REQUIREMENTS
THE COMPLETE GUIDE FOR AFFILIATE BROKERS

Are you approaching your two-year real estate license renewal deadline in Tennessee? Staying compliant with the Tennessee Real Estate Commission (TREC) is crucial to keeping your business moving forward. Missing your hours can lead to hefty fines or, worse, an expired license.

Here is exactly what you need to do to complete your Tennessee real estate continuing education (CE) requirements before your clock runs out.

BREAKING DOWN THE 16-HOUR REQUIREMENT

To maintain an active affiliate broker license in Tennessee, you must complete a total of 16 hours of state-approved continuing education. TREC is very specific about how these hours must be divided.

1. The Mandatory 6-Hour TREC Core Course

You cannot just take 16 hours of any random real estate topics. TREC requires every affiliate broker to take a specific 6-hour Core Course during every renewal cycle. This course covers critical updates to Tennessee real estate laws, commission rules, risk reduction, and contemporary industry issues.

2. 10 Hours of Elective Courses

The remaining 10 hours can be customized to fit your specific business goals. You can take these hours in a live classroom setting, via interactive webinars, or through self-paced, online distance learning.

Are you a REALTORĀ®?

Keep in mind that the National Association of REALTORSĀ® (NAR) requires a Code of Ethics course every three years. While TREC doesn’t explicitly require this for state licensing, you can use a TREC-approved Ethics course to satisfy your elective hours!
